My life long love of art began with my great grandmother, who was an artist.
She taught me to paint when I was very young and I never forgot those lessons. I
discovered watercolor, collage and block printing in high school art class. For
years I carved my own stamps out of erasers, Styrofoam and linoleum.
I incorporate many techniques in my stamping, but I still favor watercolor
and collage. My philosophy of art and stamping is the 3 C's: color, composition
and construction. The colors need to work together, the composition needs to
feel balanced and it has to be well constructed. To me, all the neat
embellishments in the world won't correct a piece if it doesn't have the 3 C's.
And remember, art should be fun! If you're not having fun, you're not doing it right.
